Thank You, Ward 10!

"Ward 10 is one of the most culturally vibrant parts of Calgary. It deserves to be celebrated, not ignored or avoided."

The decisions we make for our city are a choice between habits and fears of the past, and the demands and opportunities of the future. There are moments in history when the whole fate and future of cities can be decided by a single decision.

For Calgary, this was such a time. Time for new ideas, a new team, a new drive for equality of opportunities: a time to create new opportunities for Calgarians, time for a new vision of what we can achieve in this generation for our city and the ward in which we live.

For some of you, elections have made you feel as though your voice and your vote don’t matter. I'm here to say, it does matter. For the 428 incredible supporters that voted for me, I want to say thank you. I could not have done this without the kind words of supporters and my amazing team.

I wish our councillor the best of luck. The other candidates who were elected and the initiatives they approve and reject will impact our communities for years to come. I vow to continue to hold council accountable.

So often the decisions made by politicians don’t benefit or reflect the voice and the will of the people in the neighborhoods they serve. We have to change that!

I have spent 15 years of my life trying to educate myself and others on how to make changes that impact their own lives and the world around them and I have learned that we have tremendous power.

Great things in our city have happened when people have come together, organized, and took direct action. It is this right that sustains and nurtures our democracy today.

See you soon, Calgary.
